Every candle is hand-poured in small batches right here in NYC using a premium coconut apricot wax blend and crackling wooden wicks. What sets us apart is the hidden message inside each candle that is revealed as the wax melts. We are a woman-owned, small-batch candle company dedicated to creating unique, luxury scented candles that spark meaningful moments.
What are wooden wick candles and why do they crackle?
Wooden wick candles use a flat wood wick instead of a traditional cotton wick. When lit, the wood wick produces a soft, soothing crackling sound similar to a fireplace, creating a cozy and relaxing ambiance in any room. What type of wax do you use? Is coconut apricot wax better than soy wax?
We use a premium coconut apricot wax blend in all of our candles. Coconut apricot wax is known for burning cleaner and lasting longer than traditional paraffin or soy wax. It also provides an excellent scent throw, meaning your room fills with fragrance more effectively. This clean-burning, eco-friendly wax blend is one of the reasons our handmade candles deliver a luxury candle experience at an accessible price point.
What is a hidden message candle? How does the message reveal work?
A hidden message candle is a candle that conceals a special message inside. As you burn the candle and the wax melts, the hidden message gradually appears. How do I place a custom candle order and how long does it take?
Ordering a custom handmade candle is easy. First, email scentsthatmakesensenyc@gmail.com with a detailed description of your order. Next, choose your fragrance from our signature scent collection. We will then send you a final draft for approval and issue an invoice for payment. Custom candles are made-to-order and require up to 2 weeks for production, so please plan ahead. Some candles may already be in stock, so email us first to check availability.

How long does shipping take and how much does it cost?
All orders are processed within 3 to 5 business days. Because our candles are handmade, they need time to cure before shipping. Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking notification via email. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the weight, dimensions, and destination of your order. Custom orders require up to 2 weeks for production before shipping.
What is your refund and exchange policy on handmade candles?
Due to the handmade and personalized nature of our candles, all sales are final. We do not accept refunds or exchanges. However, if you receive the wrong candle, scent, or product due to an error on our part, we will gladly send the correct item at no additional cost. Can I modify or cancel a custom candle order after it has been placed?
Once a custom candle order is approved and in production, changes and cancellations cannot be guaranteed. Full payment is required before production begins, and all custom personalized candles are final sale due to their one-of-a-kind nature. We recommend reviewing all order details carefully before confirming your order.

How do I properly burn and care for a wooden wick candle?
For the best burn experience, always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials. Trim the wooden wick to about 1/8 inch before each lighting and remove any charred wood for a clean, even burn. Do not burn for more than four hours at a time. Keep away from drafts, children, and pets. Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame for a clean, smoke-free finish.
